Bloomtown opens in Meridian

Despite the cloudy cold weather Bloomtown Market’s grand opening was nothing less than grand last Saturday, October 29.

Beginning at 10 am their impressive shop was open for those to warm up and shop their variety of antiques, gifts, collectibles, vintage, gently used, and new items. This isn’t your average resale and boutique shop. Dishes and glassware are neatly arranged by color or theme. Children’s items, sports, furniture, and more are categorized and arranged together. From inside the market live acoustic music by Blake Dagley could be heard playing from their outside back patio area.

On the large back patio, Small Town Perk was set up with snacks, sandwiches, and a variety of coffee to keep the cold weather at bay. Clyde and Tricia Pollard’s King and Queen BBQ provided lunch to add an extra food variety to the event. All food and drinks were provided free of charge to all that attended.

One of the newest businesses to Meridian, PUPpoozi Doggie Day Spaw, were set up and offered a free fall special upgrade to any appointment booked, which included a pumpkin spice bath and matching fall bandana. Colleen Williamson’s Doily Dreamers beautifully blew in the crisp air under her covered booth.

Throughout the afternoon Owners Susie Hanks and John McPeek awarded lucky guests with unique gifts in a unique way like musical chairs, minus the chairs. 10 guests stood on a number 1-10 drawn on the pavement and walked to the next number to the beat of Dagley’s music until he stopped playing. Once the music stopped, McPeek and Hanks drew a number from a bucket, and the person standing on the number won a prize.

Prizes awarded were gifts from Keith Ace Hardware, Cut N Up Salon, The Roost, CobraTec Knives, PUPpoozi’s Doggie Day Spaw, Simple Simon’s Pizza, Meridian Locker Plant, Meridian Public Library, Small Town Perk, Jackie’s Antiques, Ay Jalisco Mexican restaurant bar and grill, China House, Avirett Agency , Inc, Meridian UV and Spray Tanning, Main Street Antiques & Interiors, and Awesomeness Full Service Cleaning.

McPeek said, they have a vision for not only the Market side of Bloomtown, but for the outdoor venue as well. They plan to bring the community together in as many ways as possible.
