October 4 Clifton Police Department hosted a celebration in Clifton City Park that brought a couple hundred people together to positively interact with local law enforcement and first responders.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods more safe and caring places to live. The goal of National Night Out is to bridge the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while trying to bring back a true sense of community. It has proved to be a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.

Millions of neighborhoods, communities, and major cities take part in National Night Out across all fifty states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide on the first Tuesday in August, however Texas and other select areas celebrate on the first Tuesday in October. Neighborhoods host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and more.

Clifton Police Department organized local Game Wardens, Medics, firefighters and Bosque County Sheriff’s Office to have fun and enjoy community fellowship free of charge. First responders were there to answer questions and vehicles were opened to explore.

The event started with a performance by Clifton High School Band followed by a tap dance routine performed by Rise and Shine Dance.

B.A.R.K brought some of their adorable dogs along with Central Texas Youth Fair’s goats, rabbits, a Shetland pony and a heifer for all of the kids to pet and interact with. Face painting by Carla and bounce houses by Centex Inflatables were a few of the other activities for the kids to enjoy.

Informational booths were set up with free items and games for all to enjoy. Savannah Lea with State Farm, Lutheran Sunset Ministries, Texas New Mexico Power, Clifton Food Bank, Helmets of Love, Clifton Lions Club, Clifton Boy Scout Pack 376, Clifton Martial Arts, Clifton ISD Student Council, National Honor Society, Bosque Medical Clinic, and other businesses and organizations were among those who joined in and donated their time to the event.

Clifton Volunteer Fire Department donated hot dogs free to all who attended. Fan favorite Rockin K&C Barbecue and Catering were there serving their mouthwatering barbecue.

If you missed Clifton Police Department’s first annual event, they have every intention to continue the community-based celebration for years to come. A BIG thank you to Clifton Police Department for organizing and bringing together the community in such a positive way.
