Lutefisk 2022 brought folks together in holiday spirit and Norwegian traditions!

Saturday night, December 3, saw almost 400 guests attend the 57th Annual Cranfills Gap Lutefisk Dinner.  As guests entered the gymnasium, they were entertained by the Cranfills Gap ISD Third, Fourth, and Fifth Graders who performed traditional Norwegian dances.

This group was started over 25+ years ago by Betty Carlson Smith and continues still today as students learn the dances in their physical education and fine arts classes.  There were 17 booths offering a variety of items from baked goods to jellies, to Christmas ornaments, and even Viking helmets for the younger crowd.

Approximately 50 students in junior high and high school greeted and served guests in the school’s cafeteria. The family-style meal featured lutefisk and turkey and dressing for dinner. About 40-50 community members, faculty, and parents served, cooked, and did whatever was needed to make the event a success.

The Cranfills Gap Lions Booster Club, which puts on this event, was started in 1964 to help with athletic expenses; and throughout the years has funded playground equipment, uniforms, a tennis court, vocational agriculture needs, yearbook cameras, signs around the campus, and a multitude of classroom needs that just fall outside the regular school budget.

It is an amazing event where the community pulls together to work for the school, teachers, and students. Members of the Cranfills Gap Lions Booster Club would like to thank everyone who had any part in this year’s fundraiser.
