On April 15 Whitney Ridge Resort celebrated its grand opening with live music, bounce houses, shaved ice, and its very own food truck.

Area locals might know the venue as Uncle Gus’ Marina in its former days. The new owners acquired the marina in November of 2021, and have completely renovated and updated the entire property.

Driving into the property it’s hard to imagine what it once looked like. Roads have been resurfaced and widened, all 32 cabins have had a complete remodel, and they’ve gone from 30 RV slips to 95. They offer two reunion halls complete with two sparkling swimming pools and views that will take your breath away.

This place has it all for lake lovers! Their renovated ship store can help you if you’re in the market for a new boat or watercraft, or service yours should the need arise. The store keeps safety essentials like lifejackets, sunscreen, water floats, clothing, hats and more in stock. They also offer a wide range of small crafts including golf carts, side by sides, minibikes, and scooters. Paddleboards, kayaks, canoes, 4-wheelers, and boats are also available to rent to add some extra fun to your stay.

They have three public boat ramps, one of which has a fuel station. Their state-of-the-art Marina, projected to be complete in June of 2023, will offer 200 boat slips with HydroHoist availability and a lease to own option.

The new open-air pavilion provides an impressive 500 person accommodation with shade and a place to relax and enjoy live music poolside. Live performances at the grand opening started at 2:30pm and ran well into the evening. Patrons enjoyed an afternoon full of tunes from  Parris Pittman, Blan Scott Band, Kolton Benton Band, Jim Sadler Band and Kirk House Band.

Golf carts and side-by-sides were lined around the pavilion full of folks enjoying the music and good ol’ fashioned family fun time, lake style. Children enjoyed the newly constructed playground, and all ages made use of the cornhole area covered by the pavilion without fear of a blistering sunburn.

Those who were enjoying sunshine in the pool, in one of two bounce houses, or out on the fishing pier had the option to cool down with one of Kona Ice’s shaved ice treats, or beverages and food from Whitney Ridge’s very own food truck. Fire pits, chairs, and a firewood dispensary were a relaxing option after the sunset.
